  1. Spinning Quarters

    October 25, 2013 by RectorBlessed

It’s been too long, my goodness – happens every time! The Rector crew began a new season in August: Sam cut back at work to two nights per week. She now works every Friday and Saturday night – which allows her to stay home with the kiddos during the week. It has been on her heart for several months and God moved in several ways to allow that, praise Him!

It has been a very fun last few months! We are enjoying starting our days together in the mornings and being together as a family in the evenings. I’m just blown away by how hard Samantha has worked and I’m humbled at what she has done for our family and continues to do. We celebrated Mary’s 1st birthday in August! What an amazing little girl she is. She’s definitely known as daddy’s little trooper! She’s been so patient with me and is so content no matter where we are. Andrew turned 5 in September, hard to believe! We had a great birthday party at our house with family and friends. There is so much I could say about him and how much he’s grown over the last few months! My favorite quality about him is his selflessness. We have our moments, no doubt, but overall – he has a servants heart and has a heart for others.

I just finished my 10th week of marathon training, 6 weeks from this Sunday is marathon day! I’ve been encouraged by my brother Anthony to run it with him. Many of you know my dad ran his first marathon last year! That was a big inspiration. I went 9 weeks without signing up for the marathon, but my family has sacrificed a lot for me to be able to train and I’ve come too far not to run it. So I’ll give it my best shot on December 8th in Dallas. I will be running for my mom – who has an unbelievable testimony over the last several weeks as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. On my longer runs, I’m up to about 3 hours now and a lot of that time is spent worshiping the Lord (thank you Robbie Seay and David Crowder) and praying. It’s been a good journey so far – those miles know how to put up a good fight! But it’s nothing compared to the fight my mom is enduring!

Samantha and I laugh at the battles we have with our kitchen. Can spend an hour doing the dishes and it can get in bad shape real quick! I encourage you this week to just let the dishes be dirty and go spin quarters with your kids. It’s a moment you won’t get back:)

    Love you all,

  2. Family of Four

    October 19, 2012 by RectorBlessed

After 8 weeks as a family of four, I think we are all settling in and finding our groove. I feel completely blessed that God has chosen Justin and I to raise our sweet children. Andrew has adjusted to Mary being around extremely well. Better than I could have ever prayed for. He absolutely loves his sister. Each time he sees her his eyes light up and a huge smile spreads across his face. He then has to kiss her, and hug her, and call her a “cutie pie” and of course a “funny pie”. Mary is growing more and more each day. She’s much more alert now and is starting to interact more each day. It’s crazy how fast they grow! I think Justin and Andrew would agree that we fall more in love with our new little sister each day.

    Sweet Brother and Sister.

Andrew is growing like a weed! He just turned 4 at the end of September, which is incredibly hard to believe. He is such a sweet little boy. God has given him such a caring heart and a sweet spirit. I am reminded of this each day in the little things that he says and does.  He’s learned so much at school this year already. It feels like each day he comes home with something new that he’s learned. I am so thankful for PCC and all of the sweet ladies that have taken Andrew in.

    Geaux Tigers!

My husband. God truly gave me a gift when he put Justin in my life. He is absolutely amazing.  He has had to take on the role of Mom on the nights that I have to work, and let me just say, He is doing an awesome job! 3 nights each week he has 2 kids all to himself. I don’t even think I could do that! He does this so willingly, and never complains. And I mean never. I am very, very thankful for a loving husband who takes such an active role in raising our children. He makes the journey of parenthood so much fun. This December we will have been together 10 years. That is so hard to believe. Thank you, Justin, for being the Godly husband and Dad that you are! Andrew, Mary, and I are extremely lucky to call you ours.

    Sweet Mary Mac.

I’ve been back at work for about 2 weeks now. I could complain about having to work, and how I wish I didn’t have to, but I can honestly say that I love my job. Yes it’s stressful, and yes, I’m exhausted most of the time, but God has put some pretty awesome people in my life as far as work is concerned. Each 12 hour shift I am reminded of this. I learn so much each time I head into the ER, and have quite a few laughs along the way. Who knew I would learn to love my job! If I have to be away from my husband and children for work, this is where I want to be.

    Love this girl.

So, life has gotten back into a steady routine. We are loving life and are looking forward to the things that God has in store for us!

    Love this boy.
