It’s been too long, my goodness – happens every time! The Rector crew began a new season in August: Sam cut back at work to two nights per week. She now works every Friday and Saturday night – which allows her to stay home with the kiddos during the week. It has been on her heart for several months and God moved in several ways to allow that, praise Him!
It has been a very fun last few months! We are enjoying starting our days together in the mornings and being together as a family in the evenings. I’m just blown away by how hard Samantha has worked and I’m humbled at what she has done for our family and continues to do. We celebrated Mary’s 1st birthday in August! What an amazing little girl she is. She’s definitely known as daddy’s little trooper! She’s been so patient with me and is so content no matter where we are. Andrew turned 5 in September, hard to believe! We had a great birthday party at our house with family and friends. There is so much I could say about him and how much he’s grown over the last few months! My favorite quality about him is his selflessness. We have our moments, no doubt, but overall – he has a servants heart and has a heart for others.
I just finished my 10th week of marathon training, 6 weeks from this Sunday is marathon day! I’ve been encouraged by my brother Anthony to run it with him. Many of you know my dad ran his first marathon last year! That was a big inspiration. I went 9 weeks without signing up for the marathon, but my family has sacrificed a lot for me to be able to train and I’ve come too far not to run it. So I’ll give it my best shot on December 8th in Dallas. I will be running for my mom – who has an unbelievable testimony over the last several weeks as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. On my longer runs, I’m up to about 3 hours now and a lot of that time is spent worshiping the Lord (thank you Robbie Seay and David Crowder) and praying. It’s been a good journey so far – those miles know how to put up a good fight! But it’s nothing compared to the fight my mom is enduring!
Samantha and I laugh at the battles we have with our kitchen. Can spend an hour doing the dishes and it can get in bad shape real quick! I encourage you this week to just let the dishes be dirty and go spin quarters with your kids. It’s a moment you won’t get back:)
Love you all,
